Mockingbirds Go Down to Defeat, 7-4
Boston and Mississippi duked it out at Magnolia Park and the Patriots came out victorious.

The Mississippi Mockingbirds got a superb performance from shortstop Melvin Thomas, but the Boston Patriots still won the game, 7-4. Thomas was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The defending champion Patriots have struggled a bit to find their groove this season, but improve to 5-5 with the win.

Boston used the timely hitting of Juan Dávila to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Patriots on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Dávila said.
