It was a good time at Imps Park, where fans came to watch the Akron Blimps and Ithaca Fighting Imps get after it.
The Ithaca Fighting Imps got a stellar effort from pitcher Don Murray, helping Ithaca score a 4-2 win over the visiting Akron Blimps. Jimmy Whitney picked up the save, his 5th.
Ithaca took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With two out, designated hitter Mike Branch hit a 2-run home run that electrified the crowd.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Ithaca manager Lou Boone. "Our pregame was pretty good."
Even with the win, the Fighting Imps have a dismal 12-27 record.
