Continentals Pin 6-2 Loss on Blimps
|
The Chesapeake Continentals picked up a win at Goodyear Hanger Dome, knocking off the Akron Blimps, 6-2. Starting pitcher Paul Workman was an essential part of his team's success. Workman went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 5, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-1. The 'W' lifts Chesapeake's record to 15-18.
Chesapeake used the bat of Ricardo Quintanilla to get the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Continentals ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Workman.
