The Virginia Palladium Sox topped the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 4-1, in USPL Double A action at Palladium Labs. The player of the game was Virginia pitcher and Glencoe, Alabama native Matt Elmore. Elmore got the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 3 hits and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. Elmore allowed 1 earned run. Jim Harris sewed up the save, his 4th.

Juan Amengual had a big run-scoring single for the Palladium Sox in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Virginia leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Luis Matos and stroked the single to left. It was his 38th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Palladium Sox ahead, 3-1.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Amengual told reporters after the game.

Virginia has now won 5 games in a row.
