Big Day for Kline as Shooters Down Blimps, 6-3
|
Sherman Kline left his imprint on the 6-3 Springfield win against the Akron Blimps. Kline, who leads the PAA in extra base hits with 14, went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The win was credited to Hamilton Franklin in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Forest Bell took the loss. The Shooters saw their win-loss record go to 13-15. At the same time, the Blimps fell to 14-14.
Had Junior O'Day not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, O'Day hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Shooters.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Kline said after the game.
