The Springfield Shooters racked up a win at Chesapeake Grounds, bumping off the Chesapeake Continentals, 5-4. António Arellano, who started for Springfield, pitched effectively for his team. Getting the save was Hamilton Franklin, his 1st. Springfield bumps their record to 10-11 with the win.
Springfield used the timely hitting of Nathan Nelson to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Shooters on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Chesapeake manager Pedro León.
