The Boston Patriots beat the Mississippi Mockingbirds, 6-5, at Dunkin Donuts Park. Boston second baseman Edward Sterrenburg earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. Boston reliever Bradley Roth was credited with the win, to go to 2-2. Roberto Cabrera took the loss for Mississippi. The Patriots have an impressive 58-36 record.
Had Juan Dávila not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Dávila hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Patriots.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Dávila told the Boston Daily News.
