Virginia left fielder John Wilkerson had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 11-9, to Ithaca at Imps Park. Wilkerson went 2 for 3 with a triple, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Don Murray picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Carlos Poujol was tagged with the loss. Jimmy Whitney earned the save, his 4th, for the Fighting Imps.

Ithaca shortstop Jimmy Wilcox made his contribution to the Fighting Imps cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the fourth inning. For the day, Wilcox was 1-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Wilcox.

With the win, Ithaca elevates its record to 7-8.
