Shuckers Win at Springfield, 2-1
Biloxi starter Fred Jerger pitched effectively against the Springfield Shooters at Springfield Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 2-1 win. Jerger, now 2-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Marc Olsen was credited with the save for Biloxi, his 3rd of the season.

Biloxi used the timely hitting of Joël Pesci to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put the Shuckers on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We did just enough to win," Pesci said.

Biloxi, now 3-5, is off to a slow start.
