Fur Traders Sneak Past Whales, 2-1
|
Tacoma Fur Traders starter José Espinosa turned in a sterling performance against the Virginia Beach Whales, leading his team to a slim 2-1 win. Tacoma reliever Kenny Caird picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-3. Quan Yang was collared with the loss. Vincent Moreau was credited with the save for Tacoma, his 9th of the season.
Had Won-shik Yi not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Yi hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Fur Traders.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Espinosa said.
Tacoma is in 9th place in the Silver AA with a record of 34-61.
