The Virginia Beach Whales beat the St. Petersburg Thunder, 6-4, at Rapiers Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder Roberto González, who captured player of the game honors. He was 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Virginia Beach is in 6th place in the Silver AA with a record of 39-39.
The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until González delivered big-time for Virginia Beach, stroking a dramatic 2-run home run off Wilbert Gallegos. The game-changing hit put the Whales on top, 6-4.
"Feels good to get the job done," González said after the game.
