Whales Fall to .500 After Loss to Fur Traders

Tacoma and Virginia Beach duked it out at Virginia Beach Grounds and the Fur Traders came out victorious.
The Virginia Beach Whales got a superb performance from designated hitter Keith Pick, but the Tacoma Fur Traders still won the game, 5-3. Pick was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Tacoma starter Aki Kiridoshi was credited with the win after throwing 84 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-4. Earning his 1st save of the year was John McNeill.
The Fur Traders grabbed the lead in the top of the first. With two out, Hori Ikenaki, who is tied for 10th in the SAA in triples with 4, hit a 2-run home run off Mark Taylor, putting Tacoma in front, 4-0. For Ikenaki, it was his 8th home run of the season.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Ikenaki.
With the win, Tacoma has a record of 24-50. Virginia Beach falls to 37-37.
