Whales Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
The Virginia Beach Whales outlasted the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats in an extra-inning thriller.

The Virginia Beach Whales beat the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats, 6-5 at Heron Field, in part due to right fielder Juan Oleastro, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 2-5 with 2 home runs and a walk. Virginia Beach reliever Javier Iturburua picked up the win, upping his record to 2-3. Travis Iturburua absorbed the loss.

Virginia Beach used the clutch hitting of Keith Pick to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to give the Whales the lead, 6-5. For the game, Pick had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Bernie Drake, the Virginia Beach skipper.

Virginia Beach is 5th in the Silver AA with a record of 35-35.
