Pitts Powers Whales to 8-5 Win
The Virginia Beach Whales bested the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 8-5, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. Paul Pitts was named player of the game. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Virginia Beach reliever Javier Iturburua got the win, raising his record to 1-3. Wynn Kelley was tagged with the loss. Mike Park earned his 12th save in 16 tries.

Pitts had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the top of the fourth inning, when he drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Whales went on to win.

"I hate to be the fly in the ointment," said Pitts, "but we could've played better."

Virginia Beach is now 23-27, Ft. Polk South 21-29.
