Evergreens Win in Extras
|
The Portland Evergreens topped the Charleston Battery, 6-5, with right fielder Vicente Gomillion playing a big role. Gomillion was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Evergreens in the win. The 5th-place Evergreens have won 5 straight.
Portland took a 6-5 lead on Tetsu Matsumoto's 20th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Matsumoto hit in the bottom of the tenth, left Charleston pitcher Branlyn Jaraba visibly frustrated.
"It feels good to get this one," Matsumoto told the Portland Observer.
