The Charleston Battery defeated the Hollywood Shredders, 7-5, at Charleston Armory. Charleston left fielder Benno Luby was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Branlyn Jaraba, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 17th save. The Battery improve their record to 38-46 with the win over Hollywood.
Charleston took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, Joey Coco stroked a run-scoring single to make it 4-3, Battery.
"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Luby told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
