Rails Get Road Win, 5-1
|
Richland starter Jose Jovellanos put a stranglehold on the Ottawa offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Rails to a 5-1 win. Artie Bates converted his 7th save in 7 tries. The last-place Nationals have dropped 5 straight games.
Richland relied on the hitting of Josh Wiggins to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Rails on top, 5-1. For the game, Wiggins had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Richland manager Fernando Mendoza. "Our pregame was pretty good."
