Miners Get Road Win, 5-1
|
Miners pitcher Eric Manchester put his stamp on his team's 5-1 win over the Ottawa Nationals. Manchester threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball for Marquette in the contest. Manchester, now 9-3, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Marquette leads the Menard's AA by 5 games.
Marquette used the timely hitting of Kent Potter to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Miners on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Manchester said.
