Nationals Subdue Providence, 1-0
|
The Ottawa Nationals eked out a 1-0 win versus the Providence Pilgrims at Nationals Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Bartolo Guerra, who captured player of the game honors. In 7.1 innings, Guerra surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 4. He allowed no runs. Pei Fa notched his 12th save in 13 chances.
Ottawa took a 1-0 lead on Nobuhiko Ohayashi's 13th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Ohayashi hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Providence pitcher Sean Neely shaking his head.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Guerra.
Ottawa is now 31-51, Providence 35-47.
