Victory Over Nationals Takes Marquette to 52-22
|
The Marquette Miners picked up a win at Marquette Stadium, knocking off the Ottawa Nationals, 5-3. On the mound for Marquette was right-hander Alfredo Romo, who played a pivotal role in the win. Marquette reliever Shan-bo Kang was the winner. His record is now 4-1. Ernest Brock took the loss. Carl Cooper picked up the save for Marquette, his 6th of the year.
Had Kiril Neuvel not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Neuvel hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Miners.
"Enjoyed this one," Romo told the Marquette Bulletin. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Marquette is now 52-22, 3˝ games up in the Menard's AA.
