Henson goes 3-for-5 to Pull Rails to .500
|
Benefiting from Oscar Henson's productive game, the Richland Rails downed the Yakima Hops, 9-2. Henson was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the Rails. Gary Podell, credited with the win, is now 3-1. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits in 7 innings. Richland is now 34-34, Yakima 31-37.
Jon Hill had a big run-scoring single for the Rails in the bottom of the third inning. With Richland leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from Ryan Price and stroked the single to right-center. It was his 34th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rails ahead, 3-1.
"We had a nice day," said Richland skipper Fernando Mendoza.
