Despite a great performance by Asheville catcher Dusan Kontic, the Richland Rails defeated the Highlanders by the score of 6-5 at Rails Ballpark. Kontic went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The Rails, now 33-32, have won 5 in a row.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Jon Walker came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Asheville pitcher Ryan Long, he hit a 2-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Richland on top, 6-5.

"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Fernando Mendoza, the Richland manager.
