The Marquette Miners beat the Providence Pilgrims, 5-2, in 11 innings. Marquette second baseman Tom Hendrickson merited player of the game honors with his performance. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Marquette is now 35-13, 2˝ games up in the Menard's AA.
The game was all tied up in the top of the 11th, until Hendrickson delivered big-time for Marquette, stroking a dramatic solo home run off Javier Fierro. The game-changing hit put the Miners on top, 3-2.
"It was a solid team effort," said Hendrickson after the game.
