Loons Raise Rally Flag, Beat Providence, 7-6
|
Providence first baseman Pancho Coloma was sensational. He went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Minnesota beat the Pilgrims, 7-6. Coloma was named the player of the game despite the loss. The 5th-place Loons have won 4 in a row.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 6-6, shortstop Rafael Carballar won it for Minnesota. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Carballar hit a first pitch fastball from Javier Fierro for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 7-6 win.
"We'll take this win and move on," said Carballar.
