Rails Nip Athletic Club KC Academy, 4-3
|
The Richland Rails eked out a 4-3 win versus the Athletic Club KC Academy at KC Academy Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Liam Bane, who captured player of the game honors. Bane went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-2. António Moreno, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save.
It could have been a different outcome for Richland, had it not been for Jon Walker, the 24-year old first baseman . Walker contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Richland up, 2-0.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Bane said after the game.
Athletic Club KC Academy now has a 6-game losing streak.
