Men Get One-Run Win at Pawnee
|
The Pawnee ParksNRec got a sterling performance from pitcher Bertrand Scotton, but the Men still prevailed, 1-0. Scotton was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 8 innings of 7-hit ball. Florida reliever Roy Bell picked up the win to move to 4-4. Bertrand Scotton suffered the loss. Amadi Azagba notched his 10th save in 13 chances.
Duncan Witteman drove in one run for Florida. The 28-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bertrand Scotton. It was his 36th RBI of the season.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Men manager Joseph Fish. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
At 30-72, Florida is in last place in the Silver AAA.
