The Cleveland Browns downed the Charleston Battery, 5-2, at Factory of Sadness. The Browns were led by Jim Brown, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Cleveland reliever Nick Altrock picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Miguel Angel Martínez absorbed the loss. Juan Vias picked up the save for Cleveland, his 4th of the year.
Brown contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Cleveland in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Brown took a fastball from Miguel Angel Martínez and stroked the home run to right. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Browns to leap in front, 2-1.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Brown.
Cleveland is now 36-39, Charleston 34-41.
