Polar Bears Come Back Late to Clip Pilgrims
|
Billings shortstop Jesse Winters was instrumental in his team's 6-5 win over the Providence Pilgrims. Winters, who leads the 3AA in bases on balls with 24, went 2-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Polar Bears. Billings reliever Arturo Cuellar was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Umebayashi Naofumi took the loss for Providence. Providence is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
Luke Crawford was the walk-off hero for Billings. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Polar Bears second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Providence skipper Micheal Garren.
