Voodoo Win at Charleston, 5-2
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The New Orleans Voodoo defeated the Charleston Battery, 5-2, in United States Premier League action at Charleston Armory, with New Orleans pitcher Gary Ashley named player of the game. Joe Khokar was credited with the save for New Orleans, his 20th of the season.
New Orleans relied on the bat of Bren Spillane to get the win. The shortstop produced a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fourth inning to put the Voodoo ahead, 2-1. For the game, Spillane had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"We take it day by day here," said Spillane, "and today was a good one for us."
New Orleans is now 44-28.
