Atoms Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
The Bethesda Atoms defeated the Asheville Highlanders, 8-3, at Atoms Field. Bethesda catcher Dana O'Quinlevan was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Virgil Dickerson was the winner. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 4 walks and 7 strikeouts. Bethesda is now 13-6.
Mikk Tamm was 3-4 with a triple and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Bethesda. The 23-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Vicente Molina. It was his 5th RBI of the season.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Tamm.
