Miners Win 6-5 Walk-Off
|
Jesse Garrett was instrumental in his team's 6-5 triumph over the Richland Rails. The third baseman was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Marquette Miners. Reliever Javier Benavides picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Camillo Vialli took the loss. Marquette improves to 9-6 as they look to defend their championship.
Marquette won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With two outs and Camillo Vialli on the mound for Richland, third baseman Martin Payton hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Miners fans to their feet.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Marquette manager Christos Galpin.
