Rocks Win at Scranton, 3-1
|
Plymouth right-hander Shem Burkholder pitched his team to victory over the Scranton Supernovas at Nuclear Stadium. The final score was 3-1. The winning pitcher was Burkholder, now 10-6. He tossed 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 2. Driscoll Craft earned his 6th save in 9 chances.
Plymouth used the timely hitting of Chris McBride to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rocks on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll savor this win," Burkholder told the Plymouth Daily, "then get ready for the next game."
The third-place Rocks lifted their record to 49-39.
