Getting an impressive start from Dave Newman, Barton Springs beat Marquette by the score of 5-2. At 7-4, the Blues have played well so far.

In the top of the ninth, Kent Potter stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Miners were trailing 5-2, but had the bases loaded. That's when Bungay Osiman made a terrific pitch and Potter struck out. Gone was the dream of a Marquette comeback.
