Bethesda Atoms starter Virgil Dickerson turned in a top-notch performance against the Barton Springs Blues at Blues Field. The result was a win for the Atoms, 4-2. François Boyer picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Danny Kas was tagged with the loss. The win gives the Atoms a record of 5-2.
Bethesda used the timely hitting of Lachlan Thurgood to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Atoms on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Thurgood.
