Supernovas Win Thriller, 5-4
|
The Scranton Supernovas and Nolensville Knights obliged those fans who came to Nuclear Stadium hoping for nail-biter.
The Scranton Supernovas relied on the hitting of left fielder Robby Sinor to stop the Nolensville Knights, 5-4. For the game, Sinor was 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The Knights, now 33-51, have lost 4 in a row.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman John Willoughby came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Nolensville pitcher Bob Bolen, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Scranton on top, 5-4.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Scranton manager Alfred Roberts.
