Blues Score Late, Top Rails, 3-1
|
Gunner Hines pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Richland Rails, despite Hines's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Barton Springs Blues at Rails Ballpark. The win was credited to Bill Holbrook in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Gunner Hines took the loss. Bungay Osiman earned the save, his 2nd, for the Blues.
Barton Springs used the timely hitting of Jonathan Winston to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blues ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Winston.
With the win, Barton Springs goes to 3-2.
