The Voodoo had to overcome a good performance from Boston pitcher José Ruíz to claim a 4-3 win at Dunkin Donuts Park. Ruíz went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Gary Ashley got the win, improving to 5-5. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. Joe Khokar converted his 18th save in 18 tries.

It could have been a different outcome for New Orleans, had it not been for Jason Slaybaugh, the 28-year old first baseman . Slaybaugh contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to put New Orleans up, 4-0.

"It was a good effort all around," said Slaybaugh.

The second-place Voodoo now have a 9-game winning streak.
