The Hialeah Dodos defeated the Vermont Lake Monsters, 9-8, in USSL Triple A action at Monster Field, with Hialeah center fielder Murray Sperber named player of the game. Mat Tengku, credited with the win, is now 7-2. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. The 5th-place Dodos have won 4 straight.

Hialeah needed the clutch hitting of Yaakov Shmerkin to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Dodos on top, 7-3. For the game, Shmerkin had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

After the game, Sperber refused to speak to a reporter for the Hialeah Observer. "You've accused me of throwing teammates under the bus," he said. "So, excuse me if I decline to answer your questions."
