Patriots Dispose of Evergreens, 10-3
|
The Boston Patriots topped the Portland Evergreens, 10-3, at Evergreen Park. Boston third baseman Juan Andrés Martí earned player of the game honors. He banged out 2 singles and 1 double, while driving in 1 runs. Boston reliever Firpo Marberry picked up the win, upping his record to 10-1. Steve Gourin shouldered the loss. Bradley Roth earned the save for Boston, his 4th of the year.
Alfredo Araújo dealt the Evergreens a blow in the top of the third. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and Boston leading 1-0, Araújo hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Boston skipper Tyler Carter.
Boston is now 37-23, Portland 28-32.
