Tight Tilt Goes to Lake Monsters, 3-2
|
Vermont beat Santa Barbara at Crane Field, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Ingo Abresch, who earned player of the game honors. Abresch went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 4-5. The save was credited to Luis Cuevas, his 2nd.
Junya Furuya aided the Vermont cause with a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop drove in one run.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Lake Monsters," said Furuya.
Vermont occupies 7th place in the Silver AAA at 31-38.
