ParksNRec Continue Skid Thanks to Neef, Dodos
|
The Hialeah Dodos knocked off the Pawnee ParksNRec, 14-5, at Whips Ballpark. Eddie Neef, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Hialeah won. The first baseman went 2-4 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Clint Kirk got the win, improving to 2-5. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Mat Tengku earned the save, his 2nd.
With Hialeah leading 10-5 in the top of the ninth, Neef came up to bat against Pawnee pitcher Aki Kiridoshi. Neef hit a fastball to left for a grand slam home run. His 7th home run of the season put the Dodos on top, 14-5.
"We came out aggressive," said Dodos manager Nick Allen. "We came out swinging the bats."
Pawnee is in the throes of a 9-game losing streak.
