Lake Monsters Bang Out 8-4 Win Versus Florida
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters defeated the Florida Men, 8-4, at Monster Field. Vermont left fielder Todd Strachota was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jorge Souza got the win, improving to 3-5. He held the Men to 4 earned runs on 6 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 4. The last-place Men have lost 4 straight games.
Strachota contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Vermont in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Strachota took a fastball from Enrique Cruz and stroked the home run to right. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Lake Monsters to leap in front, 3-1.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Strachota. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
