|
Tortolita withstood an impressive performance by Florida catcher Tristan Eikelenboom to defeat the Men, 7-4, at Drummers Ballpark. Eikelenboom went 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Carlos Taváres earned the save for Tortolita, his 1st of the year. Tortolita currently is in 7th place in the Silver AAA at 22-31.
In the bottom of the fifth, with Tortolita leading 4-3, catcher Takechi Yamashita hit a bases-clearing double. The hit came off Enrique Cruz and put the Drummers ahead, 7-3.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Drummers manager Barrett Abbott. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
