Supernovas Turn Back Vermont, 3-1
|
Scranton got a strong outing from Nick de la Fuente as the Supernovas defeated the Vermont Lake Monsters, 3-1, at Monster Field. In 6.2 innings, de la Fuente surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Trevor Brohard earned the save for Scranton, his 1st of the year.
Scranton used the timely hitting of Ruhinda Kirkconnell to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Supernovas on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Kirkconnell.
With the win, Scranton goes to 22-17, while the Lake Monsters fall to 15-24.
