Getting a good performance from designated hitter John Ennis, the Portland Evergreens defeated the Boston Patriots, 6-3. Ennis went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Evergreens. Ron Mingo earned the save, his 1st, for the Evergreens. The loss drops Boston to 2-4.
David Milliken hit a bases-clearing triple off Bradley Roth in the top of the tenth, which put the Evergreens in front, 6-3. Milliken had 2 singles, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 3 for 5.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Ennis. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
