Silver Sox Win 2-1 Walk-Off
|
The Chicago Silver Sox picked up a win at Silver Sox Park, knocking off the Portland Evergreens, 2-1. Starting pitcher Lewis Carter was an essential part of his team's success. Even with the win, the Silver Sox have a dismal 15-40 record.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Fortunato Rasquinha came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Portland pitcher Rafael Rivera, he hit a 2-2 sinker for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Chicago on top, 2-1.
Afterward, Silver Sox manager Dustin Hewitt was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
