Supernovas Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
Nolensville right fielder Brenton Winston had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-4, to Scranton at Nuclear Stadium. Winston was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. Gonzalo Hernández got the win, improving to 2-0. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 4 runs on 10 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. The Supernovas raised their record to 12-6.
The Knights had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Supernovas going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old shortstop Ruhinda Kirkconnell came to the plate. Kirkconnell hit a run-scoring single on a 1-1 cutter from Nolensville hurler Joe Holland. It was Kirkconnell's 18th hit of the year.
"We've got a great group of guys," Kirkconnell said, "and we're having fun right now."
