Golden Cranes Defeat Men, 7-3
|
The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes beat the Florida Men, 7-3, at Crane Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of center fielder James Pike, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Dorian Gunther got the win, improving to 2-1. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Florida, at 3-15, has had a dismal start to the season.
Steve Murdock had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for the Golden Cranes. Coming up with a runner on 1st and Santa Barbara trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run home run.
Pike told a Santa Barbara Daily News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
