5-3 Win by Humpbacks Continues Hot Start
|
Monster Field was the site of a competitive game between the Vermont Lake Monsters and Alaskan Humpbacks.
Alaskan beat Vermont on the strength of starter Júlio Gutiérrez's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 5-3 win. The win brings the Humpbacks to 13-3, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Alaskan needed the clutch hitting of Wally Briggs to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Humpbacks on top, 2-0. For the game, Briggs had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Gutiérrez told the Alaskan Citizen.
