Redlegs Rally For Late Win Over Starks
|
The Redlegs had to overcome a fine effort from Syracuse pitcher Edmund Blackadder to grab a narrow 4-2 win at Sacramento Sanitation Station. Blackadder went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Sacramento reliever Andrei-Luiz Frial picked up the win to move to 1-0. Christiaan Volkers suffered the loss. Larry Benítez earned the save for Sacramento, his 16th of the year.
Had Chico Custardoi not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Custardoi hit a 2-run double. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Redlegs.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Custardoi said after the game.
The Redlegs' win now puts them at 45-55.
